Songbooks: Launch Event at Llibreria Ona

Sharing lullabies, lap games, and the joy of singing together

Last week we gathered at the welcoming Llibreria Ona to celebrate the launch of Songbooks, a new board-book collection that brings the beauty of oral tradition to today’s youngest readers.

The full creative team joined the celebration: Combel’s editorial director, Noemí Mercadé; compilers Cristina Correro, Anna Molins and Núria Vilà; illustrators Christian Inaraja, Cristina Losantos and Mercè Galí, the graphic designer; and, last but not least, musician Eduard Iniesta and performer Magalí Sare. Naming them all matters: it highlights the collective effort behind this musical and visual series, a harmony of voices and talents, just like the songs that inspired it.

Songbooks consists of three sturdy board books that introduce babies and toddlers to the melodies, rhythms, and imagery of traditional oral folklore. Selected with care by Correro, Molins, and Vilà—experts in education, musicology, and language learning—the songs encourage families to sing, play, and connect through shared musical moments.

Rooted in the idea that movement, language, and music grow together, the series supports early childhood development in a natural, joyful way. Each book includes QR codes linking to freshly recorded versions of the songs, featuring the arrangements of Eduard Iniesta and the warm, expressive voice of Magalí Sare.

To accompany families on this musical journey, the collection offers three themed titles:

Lullabies, illustrated by Christian Inaraja
Eight gentle songs to ease little ones toward sleep, creating soft, shared moments at the end of the day.

Lap Songs illustrated by Cristina Losantos
Eight interactive lap games perfect for laughing, bonding, and feeling close—songs that make affection move.

Nursery Rhymes, illustrated by Mercè Galí
Traditional verses passed from one generation to the next, ready to brighten everyday routines and keep musical memory alive.

A final musical note to remember

A highlight of the evening was the performance by Eduard Iniesta and Magalí Sare, who treated the audience to a set of lullabies. Their music offered not only a glimpse into the world of the collection, but also a gentle invitation for everyone present to hum, sway, and sing along.

As the authors reminded us during the event, the heart of it all is simple: sing! These tiny, timeless melodies carry rhythm, language, emotion, and imagination. They build bonds. They create memories and they are living legacy, as they continue to live through every voice that brings them back to life.

With Songbooks, we invite families everywhere to keep singing today, and for generations to come!
