Mercè Galí

Mercè Galí was born in Sant Llorenç Savall in 1973. She grew up surrounded by books in a bookstore in the Gràcia neighborhood of Barcelona. She studied illustration at La Llotja and Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, specializing in engraving. She works in the field of children's and young adult illustration for various national and international publishers, and has published more than fifty books, including some poetry collections. She has received, among others, the 2022 Junceda Award for best illustrated. At the Bologna Children's Book Fair, she was selected for the best Toddler Books 2019. That same year, she was also selected for the Silent Book Contest and in 2022, she was shortlisted in the illustrators' exhibition at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. Her work has been part of the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava in 2013 and 2023, and has been highlighted in The White Ravens 2022. She has also been awarded at the International Latino Book Awards.
