Institut Ramon Llull Fellowship 2025 during La Setmana del Llibre en Català

A key event for the international promotion of Catalan children’s and YA literature

Last week was packed with excitement. Just days after launching our Fall campaign, Ticniks, the new series by Martí & Salomó, made its debut on the Catalan children’s bestsellers list with its first two titles: Dina and Topús.

At the same time, we had the pleasure of participating in the Institut Ramon Llull Fellowship, a cornerstone event for the Catalan publishing industry. This fellowship, held each September during the Setmana del Llibre en Català, is an exceptional opportunity to spotlight the work of Catalan authors and illustrators on the global stage and to build lasting partnerships with publishers from around the world. This year, we were thrilled to meet again with several international publishers who have already trusted Combel’s catalogue:

Host (Czech Republic) The first European publishing house to trust us and bring Agus & Monsters series by Copons & Fortuny to bookstores and public libraries.

Fatatrac (Italy) Best Children’s Publishers of the Year 2025 at the Bologna Book Fair, with titles such as Abracadabra by Marta Comín,  What is is this? by Elisenda Roca and Christian Inaraja and Turn the Turtle by Susanna Isern and Pep Montserrat, Wow! by Lluís Farré and I’m Booooored from the Horse series. And will soon be launching Creativity at Stake! seroes by Àngels Navarro and Susie Hammer.

Clavis (Belgium) Publisher of A World of Games and Open Investigation by Àngels Navarro and Jordi Sunyer and our bestseller The Amazing Creepy Granny House by Martí-Salomó.

Aletria (Brazil) Just released Wow! by Lluís Farré and Jumbo (Germany) the bestselling Uh, uh, the Ball! by Elisenda Roca, illustrated by Rocio Bonilla, both part of our Horse series.

These collaborations underscore the vitality of Catalan children’s literature worldwide, with standout titles from Combel’s authors and illustrators reaching new audiences.

For us, it is always a privilege to join this dynamic and inspiring fellowship at the COAC, overlooking Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, a true “pre-Frankfurt” where the global children’s book community comes together.

We warmly thank the Institut Ramon Llull team for their impeccable organization and tireless commitment to promoting Catalan literature for young readers on the world stage.

And to close a wonderful week, we enjoyed celebrating with Copons & Fortuny at their lively event during the last day of La Setmana.
